Reading Hour - Reading Week
In a dedicated effort to champion the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically targeting Quality Education (SDG 4) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology organized a comprehensive series of intellectual events. Driven by the collaborative vision of the Speak Out Club, the Reading Club, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), these initiatives were designed to instill a profound, lifelong culture of reading, reflection, and personal growth within the student community. The program was structurally divided into two major phases: a multi-day "Reading Week" celebration and a highly focused, department-wise "Reading Hour" campaign. These activities sought to revitalize student engagement with literature, improve library utilization, and foster friendly academic competition across various disciplines. The primary objective of these literary programs was to encourage students to read today, learn always, and lead tomorrow by rediscovering the transformative power of books. The organizers aimed to establish an active counter-culture to digital distractions, systematically guiding students back to the physical college library to browse the institution's collection and utilize its academic resources. Furthermore, the initiatives were designed to cultivate critical thinking, public expression, and analytical skills through practical applications, such as evaluating global events in quizzes and translating literary interpretation into competitive book reviews. By implementing a structured, department-wise timetable, the college also aimed to foster interdisciplinary participation, ensuring that students from technical, commercial, humanistic, and scientific streams alike had equitable and focused opportunities to engage with literature.
