Film Club- Grand café organises regular screening of artistic cinema, documentaries and short films. This forum provides the students an opportunity to watch, discuss and review films. Moreover, it is a fantastic launch-pad for the student aspirants in the field, exposing them to liberal arts and critical thinking.

1) Promotion of good films and related programmes through screenings and retrospectives.
2) Organising debates, discussion forums, seminars and workshop on various subjects relating to film and television.
3) Creating awareness about responsible film production and responsive film criticism.
4) To promote shared appreciation of film and to create opportunities to participate in something artistic and entertaining.
5) To expose social issues and realities of the world through films in different languages.
Activity I
Film Club- Grand Café in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organizes Film Screening (Grand Café -Movie Time) 14 July 2023, at 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm. The club screened a musical drama film called ‘The Greatest Showman’ (2017) directed by Michael Gracey. The film is based on the story of P.T Barnum, a famous showman and entertainer, and his creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus and the life of its star attractions. Total of 32 participants were taking part in the film screening. The outcome of the program was designed to inculcate a sense of joy and togetherness among the club members in watching and analyzing a select movie of significance in the current world.
Activity II
Workshop on Visual Journalism: An Overview
Film Club- Grand Café in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized Workshop on Visual Journalism: An Overview on 23 November 2023, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. The programme began with a prayer song and the words of welcome by the faculty coordinator Mr. Shihabudeen M. Rev Dr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI, Principal delivered the presidential address before the key note address by the resource person, Mr. Christy M. Thomas, Assistant News Editor, Reporter TV. The session came to an end with the words of gratitude by Ms. Uma Maheshwari, student representative. Total of 71 participants took part in the workshop.
Activity III
Fade to Applause- Short Film Audition
Film Club- Grand Café in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized Fade to Applause- Short Film Audition in two sessions for first year students on 5 February 2024. Session 1 was conducted from 11.15 am to 1.15 pm for girls and was headed by Ms. Cina Mathew, Faculty of Dept. of Computer Application and Session 2 was conducted from 2.00pm to 4.00 pm, headed by Mr. Shihabudheen M. The programme witnessed an enthusiastic response from the club members. The majority of the students found the session as highly relevant.
The Film Club of the college aims to introduce students to the various aspects of the popular entertainment medium, cinema and focuses on the informal gatherings where themes, experiences and emotions that form part of our lives are discussed.
