The Kristu Jyoti Group of educational institutions came into fruition with the Monastic Council of CMI Fathers of Chethipuzha led by Rev. Fr. James Kozhimattom CMI having set-up the Kristu Jyoti School linked to Sacred Heart Monastery in the year 1982. In the month of June 1982 marked the coming into being of Kristu Jyoti English Medium School as well. In order to cater to the needs of the students and the parents, Placid Vidya Vihar Senior Secondary School of CBSE mode got formed in 1988. In 2002 Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology was put into operation along with the novel institutions such as Kristu Jyoti Kindergarten and Play School. The ICSE oriented school, the Kristu Jyoti, Vidyaniketan commenced functioning in the academic year 2005-2006 onwards.

Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology was established in the year 2002 at Chethipuzha, Changanassery, Kottayam, Kerala, India. Since its inception, it has been affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University and also does have the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE). The first course, that was provided by the college was MCA in the year 2002. The college also extended courses such as M.Sc Bioinformatics and B.Com Computer Applications in the year 2004. The year 2010 paved the way for the college inducting into its scheme of things two more courses viz BCA and BBA. In the subsequent year 2011, the college introduced the courses such as B.Com( Finance and Taxation) and M.Com Finance. The other courses, the college incorporated into its fold are BSc Psychology in 2014, BSc Geology and BA English in 2015, MHRM and MSc Psychology in 2020 and B.Sc Cyber Forensic in 2023.In addition to that,the college inducts into its parameters periodically extra batches belonging to B.Com Computer Application,B.Com Finance and Taxation,BBA,BCA,BSc Psychology,M.Com and MSc Psychology.

The main highlights of this college are the maintenance of discipline, the importance attached to academic excellence, the emphasis upon the green campus concept, the stress accorded to environmental awareness programmes, the existence of an infrastructure of comprehensive mode, the well-activated placement cell taking care of the manifold placement needs of the students, the robust academy-industry linkage, the campus-based Inovus Lab which is a state-funded start-up mission, the periodical unveiling of TEDx KCMT which is undoubtedly a discerning programme of universal reach and spread and the annual mega fests which are conducted with much fanfare and efficiency by the various departments of the college.

The Kristu Jyoti Group of Educational Institutions including the Kristu Jyoti College is under the stewardship of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation of St. Joseph’s Province, Thiruvananthapuram. The CMI congregation has been rendering invaluable and path-breaking services to the domain of education for nearly last two centuries. The founding Father of the CMI congregation St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was a formidable human being who did his level best to make education available to all the people of Kerala and further afield. Today, CMI congregation does have a string of educational institutions numbering approximately 500. They are in the categories of a University, Medical Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Research Centers, Arts and Science colleges, Autonomous Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges, Technical Training Centers, Teacher Training Colleges, CBSE, ICSE, IGC&E and State Board Schools situated all throughout the world. The prominent educational institutions managed by CMI congregation at present in India are Christ University Bangalore, Amala Medical College Trissur, Rajagiri Group of Institutions Eranakulam,Sacred Heart College Kochi, Devagiri College Kozhikode, Silver Hills Public School Kozhikode, Kristu Jyoti Group of Institutions, Changanassery and Christ Nagar Group of Institutions, Trivandrum.

The educational vision of CMI Congregation is to form, mould and shape human personalities who are professionally brilliant, morally upright, ethically straight–forward, academically excellent, socially well-versed, behavioural wise flawless and character wise impeccable. CMI congregation has always used education as a platform for bringing social reforms to the society at large. The educational institutions of CMI congregation do want to formulate a generation of students who would go on to become nation builders by imbibing the ideals of justice, fair play, equality and harmonious co-existence. Our institutions also strive hard to make education at the reach of everyone and also these institutions address the educational needs of the marginalized and penalized sections of the society.

Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology was steered by many able hands in the past starting from its first Principal Rev. Fr. Cyriac Madathil till the present Principal Rev. Dr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI. The college has left no stone unturned in its effort to adhere to the resplendent and vibrant educational policies of the CMI congregation and also the enduring ethos of our nation. The college is always at the forefront of creating an innovative environment within its structure so as to ignite in our students a spirit of service to their society in particular and nation in general. Truly, it is an abode of elevated academic culture in every sense of the term.

At present Kristu Jyoti College does have more than 1727 students, 82 teaching staff and 26 non-teaching staff. All of them work assiduously for the betterment of the college in every step of the way. The college also offers 4 P.G programmes and 7 UG programmes as well,

Today, Kristu Jyoti College stands as a shining example of academic excellence and innovative teaching.It also accords especial importance nowadays for the implementation of National Education Policy 2020,the creation of students inclined towards national heritage and constitutional values and the introduction of policies and programmes for the inculcation of environmental awareness and cross-cutting issues among the students and all the stakeholders of the college.
