PG Department of Management Studies

The Post Graduate Department of Management Studies runs both UG and PG courses. The MHRM course has been started in the year 2020 and the BBA course has been started in the year 2010. Both the courses are affiliated to MG University, Kottayam.

The Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (MA HRM) programme equips the students to comprehend the importance of employee relations and other HR-related issues. The programme places equal importance on both theoretical and hands-on learning. The classroom learning in the forms of discussions and case studies, presentations, simulation games, role plays assignments, etc., gives conceptual clarity and throws light on the practical dimensions of the profession. The results that emerge out of such an experience make students conceptually strong, personally empowered and professionally successful. A regular seminars/workshops/social media campaign etc. organised by and for students facilitates them to build wider network of contacts to sharpen their HR skills. The Master of Human Resources program gives students a thorough understanding of contemporary HR practices.

The Department of Management Studies offers four-year full-time Bachelor in Business Administration (Honours) programme that reflects the needs of present-day dynamic business and economic scenario and to enable the students to face the challenges of corporate world. Since then, thirteen batches have been passed out with good result and most of them are placed in leading business organizations of major areas and other educational institutions for their higher studies. The programme is designed to mould the future managers who have the courage, skills and resilience to excel in the corporate world through their impeccable service and leadership.

The Curriculum has been drafted as per the programme outcome provided by AICTE in their model curriculum. A continued effort on building and improving infrastructure whether physical or intellectual is something that is a part of us. We have well-equipped class rooms, labs and other facilities. At the same time our library has developed access to a very large number of journals and databases. The rich and unique learning environment develops the student physically, intellectually and emotionally. A series of activities such as cultural festivals, inter-intra management festivals, industry focused seminars & visits and extracurricular activities, open them to the challenges of leadership.

VISION:

To provide students with a comprehensive management education and the tools they need to integrate into the  society and also to act as change agents, in order to prepare them for responsible roles in the workplace.

MISSION:

To help the students to acquire the knowledge and diverse skills needed by business and to familiarize them with the micro and macro environments of business through practical and theoretical learning frameworks.

Programme Outcomes At the end of First Year (Y1-POs):

  • To conceptualize and appreciate theoretical knowledge of management domain.

  • To identify a problem with the help of data and logical thinking.

Programme outcome at the end of the Second Year (Y2-POs):

  • To describe the theoretical domain knowledge along with the managerial skills

  • To develop an ability to innovate and creative thinking.

Program outcome at the end of Third Year: Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) (Y3-POs):

  • To exhibit factual and theoretical knowledge of management in general and business in particular.
  • To critically evaluate and analyze Indian and global business environments in different contexts.
  • To recognize their role as a manager, entrepreneur and a leader in a business management
  • To be an effective communicator to present opinions, ideas based on critical thinking, analysis and logical reasoning.
  • To conduct and demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour.

Programme outcome at the fourth Year: Bachelor in Business Administration with Honours: BBA (Honours) and Bachelor in Business Administration Honours with Research: BBA (Honours with Research) (Y4-POs)

  • To exhibit factual and theoretical knowledge of management in general and business in particular to critically evaluate and analyse Indian and global business environments with ability to apply learning in different contexts.
  • To nurture an ability to articulate a business environment with clarity and mindfulness.
  • To exhibit ability to own roles and responsibilities with commitment, as members of multi-cultural team and communities in cross-cultural contexts and diversity management.
  • To be an effective and emotionally intelligent leader and a decision maker who has an acumen to influence and motivate teams.

Admission Procedure:

The student seeking admission for the course should submit the Application form duly filled in the college office. The application form can be bought from the college office by paying a fee of ` 500/-or can be downloaded from the college website.

Duration of the Course

 The course shall extend over a period of Four academic years consisting of Eight semesters.

Eligibility Criteria:

 A pass in Plus Two or equivalent examination with Commerce/Science with Mathematics and not less than 50%.
