The Nature Club at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology is a non-mandatory club meant to promote the awareness of students about nature and to sensitise them towards conservation and preservation of the environment. The club has been designed to ensure the active participation of our students in becoming the emissaries of ecological harmony through various programmes.

World Environment Day is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. World Environment Day 2023 is hosted by Côte d'Ivoire and supported by the Netherlands. Theme of this year focused on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.
The Nature Club of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology observed the World Environment Day 2023 on 5th June 2023 by distributing saplings to students and nearby households. The programme was conducted in association with Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural
Advancement (OISCA International) - Kottayam Chapter. The programme was planned on 5th June 2023 at 4. 00 pm, but due to heavy rain the Nature
club team was not able to move out of the campus to distribute the saplings. The saplings were distributed only to the students by the Principal Rev. Fr.

Trash to Treasure Competition
Nature club of Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology in association with IQAC has conducted a competition called “TRASH TO TREASURE” (best out of trash) on 6th October 2023 at 2pm in New Examination Hall. The competition was held to raise awareness among students about trash management and recycling. The students eagerly participated in their various groups, which gave them plenty of chances to express their creativity and individuality. They utilized a wide range of recyclable and reusable items, including newspapers, bottles, garments, sticks, and many others. The students used various waste materials to create unique and artistic models and artwork, and they did so in a truly ingenious and imaginative way, yielding amazing outcomes. They were able to improve their sense of community and environmental love thanks to this competition. The winners were selected and awarded a cash prize with a certificate for best two teams.
HERBAL GARDEN
The Nature Club at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology has taken significant strides in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices through the establishment of a Herbal Garden. This initiative aims to educate, inspire and contribute to the conservation of biodiversity while fostering an understanding of the importance of herbal plants in our daily lives. The herbal garden is located near the Geology Department at Chavara Block of KCMT. Herbal garden includes 35 wide varieties of medicinal herbs and 10 Dashapushpam arranged in basis of Nalpamaram, Thriphala and so on. Each plant is labeled with its scientific name and a QR code. By scanning the QR code one will get an overall picture of the herb that highlights the description, traditional use and medicinal properties for educational purposes. The nature club members offered guided tours for interest individuals, providing insights into the significance of each herbal plant and their conservation. Since its inception, the Herbal Garden had garnered positive attention and engagement from both members and the community. It has served as a platform to bridge traditional knowledge with modern practices, promoting sustainable living and highlighting the importance of herbal plants in everyday life. Moving forward, the Objectives Photographs nature club aims to expand the garden by incorporating more native species, collaborating with local experts and enhancing programs to reach a wider audience. The Herbal Garden established by the Nature Club stand as a testament to the organization’s commitment to environmental education, biodiversity conservation and sustainable living. It serves as a vibrant educational hub and a source of inspiration for all those passionate about nature and its myriad benefits. Herbal Garden depicts the hard works of our nature club members, faculty coordinator and QR generating team - Akash C Mohan, Sebin Thomas and Bino Thomas (MCA) and our gardener Mr. Shaji.
