Activity 2020-2021-Study Tour

Report on Study Tour : M.Com 2019-2021 Batch

The study tour as per the curriculum was planned as an exposure trip to Munnar . The tour programme of Kristu College of Management and Technology for the final year post graduate students was planned for a day.26 students joined the trip and they were accompanied by 2 faculty members from the college. The journey commenced from  Chanaganacherry. We gathered at college campus  around 3.00 am  and departed at 3.30 am with the guidance and company of our eminent professors Dr.Anu Antony and Mr.Vivek Vijayan. Our first spot on the way there was Cheeyapara falls located at  Neriamangalam and Adimali on NH49.The falls feature seven steps and there is a short-hike up to a vantage location behind the falls. Facilities were limited and a certain amount of garbage dumping affects  the beauty of the place, but overall  it is a good stopover option . Unfortunately there was’nt any waterfall when we visited the location.

The first of our  road-trip in Munnar was on the Mattupetty Road to the Dam and Top Station. Top Station, located 37 km away on the Kerala-Tamilnadu border with panoramic views of the Western Ghats, was a good hiking spot. A few yards from our retreat on Mattupetty Road is KFDC Floriculture center was our first destination , an exquisitely maintained botanical garden. Entrance Fee is very nominal (Rs 10) and is open from 9AM to 5:45PM.The facility houses a huge display of regional flowers and other exotic items. About 10 km into the road-trip is Mattupetti Dam with street vendors hawking their ware on either side of the road. The place is exoted with many tourist and the water level in the dam is very low. Further on this route a few kilometers apart is Echo Point ,a scenic spot beside a small lake any sound produced is echoed back from the surrounding hills and hence the name. Probably around 2 hours we spent our  time in echo point including lunch .

The best spot in the entire road-trip was  Kundala Lake, whose access is via an unassuming approach. This stunningly beautiful lake was a great picnic spot. Boating on the lake is  the major tourist activity and all kinds of boats are available for rent including the Kashmiri Shikara ,pedal boats are the easiest to handle.Unfortunately we reached very late in Kundala dam so that we couldn’t go for boating . On the way back we step over in photo point for restoring our memories to capture memorable moments. The dinner was served from Kalavara restaurant ,Adimali.By 12.30 reached the college campus.
