Clubs and Associations
Overview
The associations and clubs of English department are meant to mould and shape the multiple skill sets innate in students. These bodies are actively involved in activating the latent and dormant talents, skills sets and potentialities in students. Over the years, these entities have played pivotal role in bringing forth multiple and variegated talents in students. Since the college desk gives emphasis on holistic and comprehensive development of students, it is imperative that such associations and clubs act as cogs in the wheel of college apparatus.

When it comes to the role of associations and clubs relating to the English department, there is a crucial underlying significance to it such as
The English Association coming under the Department of English was inaugurated by Dr. Keralavarma, Associate Professor, Government College, Kottayam in the presence of Rev.Fr.Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI, Principal Kristu Jyoti College on 1st October 2018. In his Inaugural address the Chief Guest, Dr. Keralavarma dealt at length the definition associated with the question, what is Literature? In his lecture, he has articulated the view that literature does have various areas of specialisation. It cannot be attributed to this and that instead, the holistic aspects of literature must be taken into account.. He has pointed out in certain terms that literature must be linked to life in a manner that would appeal to our senses and minds.
English Literary Association 2021
The inauguration of the English Literary Association was done on March 25, 2022 at 2 PM in the seminar hall of Kristu Jyoti college. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhi CMI, inaugurated the meeting and delivered the inaugural address. The students of the English Department participated in the inaugural function. Mr.Josy Joseph, Associate Professor, SB College, Changanacherry, delivered the Keynote Address. A seminar on the topic, “Shakespeare and the Postcolonial Question” was organised in connection with the Literary Association Inauguration.
The Department of English in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology has organized the inauguration of English Literary Association 2022-2023 followed by an effective discourse on “Some Reflections on Modernism” on Thursday, 22nd July, 2022 at 2 pm in the seminar hall. Mr PJ Thomas, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, St Berchmans Autonomous College was the guest speaker and resource person for the day.
