Activity I

Annual Day celebration of DREAMS program

The DREAMS Annual Day commenced on   15.02.2025. The inaugural address was delivered by Changanasseri MLA Advocate Job Micheal In his address, he underscored the pivotal role DREAMS plays in shaping young minds and its potential to bring about a positive impact on future generations. The event was formally inaugurated through the symbolic lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present on stage. Rev. Fr. Joshy George delivered the presidential address , emphasizing the necessity of the DREAMS program in contemporary society. He highlighted its dual objective of empowering students to grow and contribute to the community’s welfare, underscoring its significance for the younger generation who will shape tomorrow’s future.

Ashlin Jimmy and Anugraha Mariyam Abraham presented the Annual Report for the year 2025 providing a comprehensive overview of DREAMS’ achievements. The report detailed the organization’s mission and the structure of its 3-year development program, which is designed to support primary school students through mentorship provided by college students under the guidance of community mentors. The acronym DREAMS itself encapsulates the program’s philosophy: Desire, Readiness, Empowerment, Action, Mastery, and Success.

Activity II

Follow up camp – 1 (August 10th 2024)

TOPIC (1st year) : BE THE LEADER OF YOUR OWN LIFE

The first follow up camp was held on August 10th, Saturday at SB school, Changanassery. An introduction to the day’s topic was given by Nandana. Sen Johnson, the day’s guest speaker gave examples of leaders and their qualities and how each one of us can be leaders of our own lives. After debriefing and a short break, the kids sang and danced to the theme song followed by a game of passing the obstacles blindfolded, in which the blindfolded person blindly followed the guide’s instructions. This game teaches the qualities of a leader. A

TOPIC( 2nd year ): DELIVERING HAPPINESS

The “Delivering Happiness” session focused on understanding and spreading happiness through various activities. It Lijiya conducted a class on ways to deliver happiness, emphasizing helping, sharing, and bringing smiles to others. Discussions covered the importance of gratitude, positive relationships, and finding joy in small things. 

Follow up camp – 2 (9th November 2024)

Topic (1st year): JOY OF GIVING AND RECEIVING

The Dreams second follow up camp focused on joy, teamwork, and mentorship. The day began with a Zumba session, followed by a speech on joy and a debriefing led by Nandana. Teams participated in an activity of making cards for others, reinforcing kindness and creativity. The schedule included action songs, lunch, and another Zumba session, followed by engaging games led by Sreyas, Gowdham, and Nandana. 

TOPIC (2nd year) – EMPOWER YOUR SURROUNDINGS

The follow-up session began with a prayer and zumba, setting an energetic tone for the day. A guest speaker, Alita, shared insights on building dreams to help others, followed by an activity where mentees wrote gratitude letters to their mentors. Various empowerment activities encouraged mentees to share experiences, discuss goals, and recognize strengths. Sessions included games, skits, and a theme song performed by a group. 

TOPIC (3rd year): BUILDING TRUST AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT

The topic for today’s follow up session was ‘Building Trust and ‘Conflict Management’. Few of the second year mentors were given the responsibility of the third year mentees. We started the day with a prayer and a combined zumba class. This was followed by a very interactive session by our speaker for the day, Ms. Kesiah Mariam Binoy. The children gave a positive response to the session which could be understood by their active involvement during the debriefing session. After that the games were conducted which enabled the mentees to establish trust in their partners and to tackle the conflict. For the activities the mentees were given a topic to speak about and put up their opinions which was open to others for questioning and establishing their viewpoints.

Follow up camp – 3 (January 11th 2025)

 TOPIC (1st year) : KEEP GOING AND KEEP TRYING – PERSEVERANCE

After registration, a briefing on the previous camp encouraged mentees to share their learnings. Guest speaker Mr. Sreyas S Kumar delivered an impactful speech on perseverance, emphasizing the importance of hard work and resilience in achieving dreams. Saaji led a debriefing session, followed by a dance to the Dreams theme song. A video presentation on famous personalities, including Lionel Messi, excited the mentees. 

TOPIC (2nd year) : UNDERSTAND OTHERS & RESPOND TO THEIR NEEDS

The follow-up camp for the second years, focused on Understanding Others and Responding to Their Needs, began with a prayer song. A short walk and exercise session with mentors followed, setting an active tone for the day. Guest speaker Mr. Kevin Thomas conducted an engaging and interactive session, allowing children to learn while having fun. During the debriefing, students shared their insights, which the guest speaker acknowledged. The action group then led a game, Empathy Circle, aimed at enhancing communication and empathy through role-playing.

TOPIC (3rd year): PROFESSIONALISM AND MENTORING/LEAD CHANGE

Today’s follow up session was ‘Professionalism and Mentoring/Lead Change’. Seven of the second year mentors were given the responsibility of the third year mentees. We started the day with the prayer by our mentees. This was followed by an insightful session by our speaker for the day, Mr.Siby Chandy. The children were made to critically think about the ways they could present themselves in a professional world.

 

Activity III

DREAMS Summer Camp 2024

DAY 1-THEME : SELF ESTEEM AND SELF CONCEPT

The first day of DREAMS Summer Camp 2024 started at 9 o’clock with registration of the newly joined mentees followed by prayer at 9:30. Angel, being the MC, introduced the speakers. An introduction to DREAMS was given by Mr Sebastian and Ms. Tessy for the new members of the DREAMS family. The headmaster of SB HSS, Reverend Father Roji Vellayi, delivered the inaugural address, setting the tone for the day. At 10 AM, Ms. Viji John, spoke about the importance of dreams and working on them to succeed in achieving goals and how self-concept and self-esteem grows in this process.

DAY 2-TOPIC: ATTITUDE AND EMOTIONS

The second day began with registration at 9 followed by a prayer and exercise at 9:30. At 9:50, we quickly revised the theme for day 1. At 10, the guest speaker of the day, Mr. Nikhil Krishna, talked about attitude and emotions and their relation and finding good in any situation with a positive attitude. The debriefing session was at 11 and at 11:15 we danced to the theme song

DAY 3- TOPIC: DREAMS AND PURPOSE IN LIFE

The third day started with registration at 9 followed by prayer at 9:25 and exercise at 9:30. At 9:50, we quickly revised the theme for day 2 and at 10, the guest speaker of the day, Ms. Hitha Hari, made us learn from eminent personalities that following our purpose will lead us to a life that we always dream about.

DAY 4-TOPIC: Values to reach your goal

Day 4 started with registration at 9. The prayer song was sung by the mentees followed by a Zumba dance session at 9:30. At 10, after revising the topic for day 3, the guest speaker for day 4, Ms. Annie Thomas, talked about the importance of values and how they help us in working towards reaching our goals.

DAY 5-TOPIC: EMPOWER YOURSELF

The last day of this year’s camp started as usual at 9 with registration followed by prayer by three of our mentees. At 9:30, the kids practiced the zumba dance they were going to perform on stage when their parents came at 3. After a quick revision of yesterday’s topic at 10, the guest speaker for today, Ms. Meethu Mary George, gave a formula for empowerment, that is, talent combined with hard work results in strength to do action.
