Overview
The Group Discussion Club- ‘Eclectics’, organized as part of the Academic Extension Activity at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, marked its official beginning through the online inaugural ceremony held on 26 April 2021 at 7.00pm. The word 'eclectic' stands for deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources and the GD club named as Eclectics aims at molding a bunch of young talented minds to derive ideas from a wide range of sources and to express themselves effectively.
The GD club was inaugurated by the principal Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI. The inaugural webinar conducted for the members of the club described the importance of group discussions in job placement. Ms. Jeremy Jain Babu and Ms. Meethu Mary George was the faculty convenor and coordinator of the club, respectively. The first student organizing committee was also introduced before the audience during the inaugural ceremony.
Objectives of the Club
1) To enhance knowledge about recent trends in Commerce and Management.
2) To prepare the students to be successful in group discussions associated with job placement.
3) To enable students to socialize and communicate with people in order to understand and respect different perspectives.
4) To improve students' confidence through the monthly practice sessions organized by the club.
5) To create awareness about the etiquettes to follow in a group discussion and to ensure students' participation in group discussion competitions.
6) To inculcate the importance of interpersonal communication skills in the members of the club through the certificate course 'Conversational English for Career' which is offered by the club.
