Breaking Barriers, Building Gender Equality: A Gender Sensitization Program
The Postgraduate Department of Psychology in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a seminar on Breaking Barriers, Building Gender Equality: A Gender Sensitization Program on 07-March-2023. Dr. Jolly K James, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, St. Berchmans College, Changanassery was the resource person for the event.
Activity 1
Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology has always been keen on facilitating the students’ development of a strong sense of gender equity which will serve as individual assets for each student as they branch out into various spheres in life. The Workshop on “The Shifting Paradigms of Gender Equity” was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Psychology for the current first semester students of BSc Psychology, on 03/11/2023. The students found the session to be highly informative and interactive with respect to many of the prevalent gender-concerning issues. The students had a session in class later where they were provided with the opportunity to share their personal reflections on the workshop. The discussion was very productive and shed light on some of the key themes that were dealt with during the course of the workshop.
Activity II
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology conducted a Gender Equity programme. The awareness session was handled by Adv.Sindhu Peter to the First year BSc Psychology students total of 38 participants has participated in this programme. Sindhu Ma’am is an excellent trainer and everybody has come away very positive about the programme. Her manner, approach, and skill/ knowledge base was excellent. She also kept the group engaged and interested and eager to have a go at the practical element. It was an effective and informational class.The success of a gender equity programme can be measured by increased representation and opportunities for all genders, reduced gender pay gaps and enhanced awareness and education on gender related issues.
