Activity 1 - Empowering Equity in Every Sphere’
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology at Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology, Changanacherry, organized a seminar on Gender Equity titled ‘Empowering Equity in Every Sphere’, in association with the IQAC. The seminar, aimed at promoting fairness and equality among all genders, was conducted by Ms. Riya Susan Varughese, Consultant Psychologist at Nivera Multidisciplinary Therapy Clinic, Ernakulam. It was designed for first- and second-year M.Sc. Psychology students and took place in Room 412 at 11:15 am. The session focused on dismantling gender-based barriers, eliminating discrimination, and addressing disparities rooted in stereotypes and systemic norms. The seminar also included interactive activities to engage participants in these key issues. The organizing committee included Principal Fr. Dr. Joshy George, Head of the Department Ms. Krupa Dinah Mathews, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Anu Antony, Faculty Coordinator Ms. Nejma Sherif, and Student Coordinator Ms. Sihaam Seethi.
The seminar proved to be a great success in raising awareness and fostering self-awareness among the participants about gender equity. It provided valuable insights on the importance of fairness, inclusivity, and respect for all genders, encouraging students to challenge stereotypes and work towards building an equitable society. Participants left the seminar motivated to reflect on their actions and take steps toward creating a more inclusive and fair environment in their communities and workplaces.
