Induction Programme

1. Fields of Social Work

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology organized an induction programme titled Exploring ‘Fields of Social Work’ on 23rd July 2024, from 9 am to 1 pm. The objective of this program was to provide valuable insights and information to our graduating and post graduating students about various fields of social work: - potentials and possibilities. The esteemed resource person for the event was Dr Shiju K.K, Asst professor at Inter University Centre for disability studies, MG University. The program commenced with a prayer by the dept choir team, welcome speech by Hanna Shabi, followed by a presidential address delivered by Ms Surya Krishna, Head of the Department of Social Work. The event concluded with a vote of thanks given by TSW Namrutha. Social work is a rewarding yet challenging profession that demands dedication, passion, and ongoing learning. A clearly defined career path is crucial for social workers to make a meaningful impact, enhance their skills, and attain job satisfaction.

2. The Evolving Role of Medical Social Worker in Health Care

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology organized an induction programme titled ‘Evolving the role of medical social worker in health care’ on 23rd July 2024, from 2pm to 4pm. The orientation program was a resounding success, thanks to the inspiring talk by Fr. Lijin Moozhayil CMI, Asst. Director of St. Ritha's Hospital, Naalukody. With his extensive experience in healthcare, Fr.  Lijin delivered a captivating presentation on "The Evolving Role of Medical Professionals in Healthcare". The program began with a warm welcome speech and a prayer session, setting a positive tone for the day. Fr. Ligin then took the stage, sharing his insights on the changing landscape of healthcare. He emphasized the importance of compassion, empathy, and   holistic   care, inspiring   the   students   to   become   well-rounded healthcare professionals. The interactive session that followed was a testament to Fr.  Ligin ability to engage and motivate his audience.  Students asked thoughtful questions, and he provided   guidance   and   mentorship, sharing   his   expertise   and   passion   for healthcare. The program concluded with a group discussion and closing remarks, leaving a lasting impact on the students. Fr.  Ligin’s talk had not only informed but also inspired the students, setting a positive tone for their academic journey in healthcare

3. PROFESSIONAL APPROACH TO SOCIAL WORK

On July 24, the Social Work Department of Kristu Jyothi College of Management and Technology, in collaboration with BCM College Kottayam, organized an induction program for social work students. The event took place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, The esteemed resource person for the event was Dr Ipe Varghese, Head of the Social Work Department BCM college. With his engaging and thought-provoking presentation, Dr Varghese highlighted the importance of structured practices in social work. He shared real-life examples and anecdotes to elucidate critical concepts, making his talk both informative and relatable. Key topics he covered included assessment and intervention strategies, case management and documentation, effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as ethical decision-making and maintaining professional boundaries. The induction program served as an inspiring and informative session, equipping new students with valuable insights into the field of social work and setting the tone for their academic journey.

4. Contemporary Social Work Practice

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology organized an induction programme titled " Contemporary Social Work Practice " on 29th July 2024, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. The objective of this program was to provide valuable insights and information to our graduating and post graduating students about the contemporary practice in social work. The esteemed resource person for the event was Mr Vishah Mohan, Assistant Professor from the Department of Social Work at School of Social Work Marian College Kuttikkanam. The program commenced with a welcome speech by TSW Sreeya B followed by a presidential address delivered by Ms Treesa Delight, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. The event concluded with a vote of thanks given by TSW Angela Rose Babu. Contemporary social work practice encompasses a range of approaches and strategies used by social workers to address and support individuals, families, and communities facing various challenges. Students received practical tips and advice from the resource person, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate in to the social work profession. The session motivated students to develop a positive attitude toward social work profession.

5. Exploring Social Work Careers

The Department of Social Work at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology organized an induction program titled "Exploring Social Work Careers" on 29th July 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm. The objective of this program was to provide valuable insights and information to our graduating and post graduating students about various career options available to them after completing their studies. The esteemed resource person for the event was Dr Elizabeth Alexander, Assistant Professor and head from the Department of Social Work at St. KE College, Mannanam. The program commenced with a welcome speech by TSW Sreeya B followed by a presidential address delivered by Ms Surya Krishna, Head of the Department of Social Work. The event concluded with a vote of thanks given by TSW Arya Harikumar. Social Work is a rewarding and challenging profession that require dedication, passion, and continuous learning. A well-defined career path in social work is essential for professionals to make a meaningful impact, advance their skills, and achieve job satisfaction. The session provided valuable insights into various career options available to the graduating students, empowering them to make informed decisions about their future paths.
