Forensic Psychology and it’s Trends
The Department conducted a seminar on “Forensic Psychology and its trends” on 22nd August, 2022 at 11.15 am. The session was handled by Ms. Ancy Thangam Regi. A total of 143 participants were taking part in the seminar which included students and faculties of psychology department, KJCMT. The main objective of this programme was to give insight regarding the duties and responsibilities of a forensic psychologist.
Travel Psychology-an Emerging Field
The department Conducted a seminar on 24th August 2022 at 2pm on the topic “Travel Psychology-an Emerging Field”. The session was handled by Mr. Dipin Joseph, a total of 126 participants were taking part in the webinar which includes students and faculties of psychology department, Kristu Jyoti College. The main objective of this programme was to discuss the new field of travel psychology and to deliver the importance of travel.
Session on Busting the Myths in Psychopathology
The department organized an interactive session on Busting the Myths in Psychopathology on 06th October 2022, at 11:00 am. Ms. Reshma Krishnan, M.Phil Clinical Psychology Trainee at NIMHANS, was the resource person. The intended outcome of the program was to create an insight into the meaning of Psychopathy and clarifying the misconceptions regarding the identification and treatment of mental health conditions.
Sex Intelligence
The department organized a session titled "A Session on Sex Intelligence" on Thursday 8th December 2022 from 9 am to 11 am at the Seminar Hall of the college.The speakers of this session were Dr.Anjana Chandran (Medical Officer,Seethalayam Unit,Govt.Homeo Hospital,Kurichy) and Ms. Sneha Benny (Psychologist, Seethalayam Unit, Homeo Hospital, mKurichy).It was a session marked by its explicit exposure regarding the matter of the various aspects of sexuality and the need to acquire an emotional stability when it comes to sexual issues at the personal and social levels.
INVITED TALK – BREAST CANCER AWARENESS TRAINING
Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organised an Invited Talk – Breast Cancer Awareness Training On 16th October 2023, at 3.00 p.m. Total of 138 participants from B.Sc. Psychology & B.Com departments were took part. The program started with a prayer song followed by welcome speech by Maria Sara James of B.Sc. Psychology semester 1. Dr. Fr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI delivered the presidential address. The session was delivered by Dr. Fahad Bin Abdul Majeed, Surgical Oncology, from Aster Medicity. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Bita Maria Joseph.Students got an understanding of cancer to make people better able to support those with the disease, as well as help people reduce risks to potentially prevent cancers. Students also received an awareness regarding most effective ways to stay healthy is to adopt a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption, protecting your skin from sun damage, and staying up-to-date with recommended cancer screening tests.
Alumni Interaction Program
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in Association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry, organized an alumni interaction program for the Final Year students. The interaction program was conducted on 15th January, Monday in room no: 405. The students from semester VI Batch I and II were the participated in the programme. The program began at 10.00 am and came to an end by 11.30 a.m. The resource person of the program was Ms. SruthiKeerthy who is an Alumnus from the 2017-2020 batch of BSc Psychology of the PG department of Psychology, Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology. The resource person Ms. SruthiKeerthy shared her experiences of being a student at KCMT and the opportunities she received while being a student of the college. She has shared her experiences being a research scholar and give her valuable advices on research methodology, academic writings, publishing papers and research opportunities. She also provide insights to students about different career paths within and outside academia.Students gave this programme positive evaluation, describing it as educational and helpful. The students gained a great deal of knowledge from the entire session, which also assisted them in setting high expectations for themselves and visualising their own professional trajectories.
