1.Career Counseling Program: “Career Prospects in the field of Psychology”
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized a Seminar session on Career Counseling Program: “Career Prospects in the field of Psychology “on 20th June 2023, at 10.00 a.m. Mr. Abhishek Mathew Varghese M.Phil Clinical Psychology entrant, NIMHANS Bangalore was the resource person. Total of 125 participants took part. The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Tessa Antony of 3rd year BSc. Psychology. Mr. Cijo Joseph delivered the welcome speech. The Presidential address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI, Principal, KCMT. The career counseling session helped to gain clarity on career goals, identifying job market trends, evaluating one's skills and competencies, gaining knowledge about various industries, and exploring different career paths. The career counseling program within the field of psychology has helped to attain specific outcomes tailored to the needs and goals of individuals seeking guidance in their psychological career. The career counseling program has helped individuals explore the different branches of psychology (clinical, counseling, school industrial-organizational, etc.). The graduating students responded to the programming with enthusiasm and took an active part in it. The majority of participants thought the information was extremely pertinent to their job issues. They valued the thorough strategy that covered numerous job pathways fit for various academic backgrounds.
2. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized Intellectual Property Rights on 11th July 2023 for BSc Psychology Semester 5 students. Adv. Vishnu Prasad, PhD scholar of the School of Indian Legal Thought was the resource person. A total of 70 participants attended the programme. The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Tessa Antony of 3rd year Bsc Psychology. Ms. Milana Siju introduced the resource person to the participants. The session effectively focused on the details of Intellectual Property Rights starting with the history, the various types of IPR, and different cases related to IPR. The overall feedback from the students was on a positive note. The participants found the session informative, interesting, and interactive. The outcome of the programme was to create an awareness of Intellectual Property Rights for the students and to be aware of the different types of IPR. The session was successful in helping the students understand the basics of IPR.
3.Alumni Interaction with Freshers
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in Association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry, organized an alumni interaction program for the freshers. The interaction program was conducted on 27th July, Thursday in the new examination hall. The students from semester 1 batch 1 B.Sc. Psychology were in-charge of conducting the program. They were guided by Ms. Jilu Mary Luke from the Psychology department who was the faculty coordinator for the event. The program began at 10.00 am and came to an end by 11.30 a.m. The resource person of the program was Mr. Noble Sam Prince who is an Alumni from the 2014-2017 batch of BSc Psychology of the PG department of Psychology, Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology. The comparing was done by Devu Ram. The program started with a prayer song. Soon after, the resource person and the gathering were welcomed by Angel Elma Mathew. Rev. Fr. Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI, principal of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, welcomed the resource person and shared a few memories from the batch of the alumni. The resource person Mr. Noble Sam shared his experiences of being a student at KCMT and the opportunities he received while being a student of the college. He explained that his experience at KCMT did give him good exposure which has benefitted his career. He also shared some tips to study Psychology and reiterated the importance of keeping a good relationship with the teachers. He also conducted various games involving each and every student in the gathering. Overall, the class was useful and enjoyable. The vote of thanks was given by Anova. All students thanked Mr. Noble for sharing his precious time and insights with them.
4.Intellectual Property Rights
The Postgraduate Department of Psychology in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kristu Jyoti College of Management & Technology organized an invited talk on " Intellectual Property Rights " on 11th August 2023 at Room No: 414. The resource person of the session was Adv. Treesa Maria Thomas (MSc, LLB ).The session gave insights on the different spheres of IPR and what includes the Intellectual properties. It was an interactive session as the speaker included simple and daily life examples to make everything clear. The session was organized by the Course-Coordinator of Psychology Department Ms. Krupa Dinah Mathew. It began with a formal function which included a prayer song followed by welcome speech given by the sectional Head of Postgraduate Department of Psychology and Wrapped up with a vote of Thanks proposed by Florentina Maria Thomas of S3B2. The students of the Psychology Department of KCMT registered their presence through their interaction with the resource person. The session culminated with a question and answer session. The Intellectual Property Rights program, conducted by the postgraduate department of psychology at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, aimed to equip the participants with varied aspects related to IP law. Participants gained insights into the cognitive and emotional dimensions of creativity, innovation, and copyright processes.
5. Workshop on Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation
The JPMR Workshop, held at Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology by the Post-graduate Department of Psychology on 19th September 2023, provided participants with a comprehensive understanding and practical experience of Jacobson Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR). This relaxation technique, developed by Edmund Jacobson in the early 20th century, is a proven method for reducing muscle tension and promoting overall relaxation, making it a valuable tool for stress management and anxiety reduction. The JPMR Workshop was structured to introduce participants to the key principles and steps of Jacobson Progressive Muscle Relaxation. Under the expert guidance of the instructor, Ms. Sini Elsa Joseph, attendees learned the systematic process of tensing and relaxing specific muscle groups throughout the body. This hands-on approach allowed participants to experience the contrast between muscle tension and relaxation while focusing on deep breathing techniques to enhance the effects. Ms. Sini Elsa Joseph is a RCI recognized Clinical Psychologist who is an expert in relaxation techniques, brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the workshop. The workshop effectively conveyed the nuances of JPMR and provided valuable insights into its practical applications for stress reduction and anxiety management. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn and practice JPMR. Attendees reported feeling more relaxed, aware of muscle tension, and better equipped to manage stress and anxiety. The workshop's benefits extended beyond the immediate session, as participants acquired a practical tool, they can integrate into their daily lives to enhance well-being.
Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organised a 3 day workshop PSYNAPSE: THEORY TO PRACTICE on 25th, 26th, 27th October 2023 from 9.30 am onwards. Total of 40 participants from M.Sc. Psychology took part. The students attended the workshop with enthusiasm and took an active part in it. The students found the workshop very relevant and interesting. Students received a great knowledge regarding how to take the Mental Status Examination. Apart from learning the theory part they have got an opportunity to diagnose the clinical cases. The students have increased knowledge, competence and confidence in diagnosing a case.

International Webinar on “Applying research to a real-world problem; Attempting to develop a more
sensitive memory test for detecting dementia”
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organised a International Webinar on “Applying research to a real-world problem; Attempting to develop a more sensitive memory test for detecting dementia” on 22nd February 2024. The session pointed out the issue Accelerated Long-term Forgetting (ALF) and it is a possible early marker for risk of developing Alzheimer's disease (AD). The merits of Verbal Associative Learning and Memory Test (VALMT) over Wechsler Memory Scale Logical Memory test (WMS-LM; a standard clinical measure) were discussed. The webinar has given an opportunity to familiarize the major issues of elderly people and introduced the effective tests that can be used to detect the Accelerated long-term forgetting like Verbal Associative Learning and Memory Test (VALMT). The students gained practical or application level orientation rather than theoretical content which will help them in their culture career
