Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized a Soft skill development program onInterpersonal skills on 4th July 2023, at 3.00 p.m. Mr. Noble Sam Prince, a Startup Professional, was the resource person. Total of 54 participants took part in the session. The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Nandana Reji of 3rd year B.Sc. Psychology. Mr. Sen Johnson of 3rd year B.Sc. Psychology, delivered the welcome speech. The outcome of the programme was to enhance the skills that are needed to build and foster empowering relationships and also help the students to improve introspection, self confidence and emotional intelligence. Mr. Noble Sam Prince explained in detail the key interpersonal skills required for today's life. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Milan Togy of 3rd year B.Sc. psychology. The program's emphasis on interactive sessions facilitated a dynamic learning environment. Group discussions and interactive activities not only improved our language skills but also boosted our confidence in using Hindi in real-life situations
2. Presentation Skill Development
Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology on molding personality of excellence has always managed to incorporate soft skill development in the college curriculum considering the ideal notion of education as a blend of skills and academics. Life skills is Programme organized by psychology department of the college on 22/08/23.
The skills programme started with a prayer song and Almighty God’s blessings. This was followed by a welcome speech and HOD interaction on how presentation is important professionally. The resource person Ms. Surabhi James who is an Assistant professor at Marian College was then invited on the stage to enlighten the students regarding presentation skill development. She educated us about how our body language and humor sense should be presented when standing in front of an audience. She interacted with students, organized games that were all fun and encouraging.
Our coordinator Ms. Jilu Mary Luke and student coordinators Aleeta T Mathew and Adwaitha Jayachandran has dedicated their maximum to transform into a great success. The Programme was not just informative but as well a fun too.
1.Life Skill Development: First Aid
Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized a Life skill development program on First Aid on 12th June 2023, at 12.15 p.m. Dr. Sijo Jacob, Former Faculty of the Department of Psychology, was the resource person. Total of 20 participants took part in the session. The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Meenakshi P. Nair of 1st year M.Sc. Psychology. Ms. Gopika Das of 1st year M.Sc. Psychology, delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Sijo Jacob explained in detail the procedure of CPR. The first aid procedure for choking was demonstrated by the students under the guidance of Dr. Sijo Jacob. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Serah Susan Varghese of 1st year M.Sc. psychology.The programme witnessed an enthusiastic response from the students who were part of the programme. The majority of the participants found the information provided during the session very useful.
2.Life Skill Development:
"Embrace Your Brilliance: Transforming Lives
through Personal Development"
Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized a Life skill development program on "Embrace Your Brilliance: Transforming Lives through Personal Development"on 21 JULY 2023 at 2.00 p.m. Mr. Manoj Xavier Assistant Professor Department of Commerce St. Aloysius College, Edathua, was the resource person. Total of 120 participants took part in the session. The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Vrindha of 1st year B.Sc. Psychology. Mr.Cijo Joseph of Sectional Head Department Of Psychology, delivered the welcome speech. The self-confidence tool was administered among the students under the guidance of Mr. Manoj Xavier after the session . The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms Diya N R of 1st year B.Sc. psychology. The outcome of the programme was able to create awareness among the students on how to transform lives through personal development. They were able to understand the topic very well. The overall feedback of the programme from students is that the session was really informative and helpful to them to create a self awareness about their habits and how it affects their personal development ,level of self confidence they have.Most of the students give feedback that the session was excellent and motivating.
Activity I
An ICT skill training programme was conducted on 29th September 2023, Friday for the second-year students of BSc Psychology. The programme was conducted in Room no 405 in the Department of Psychology from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The resource person invited for the programme was Ms. Meera Liza Jose, Research Scholar at the Department of Zoology, St. Berchman’s College, Changanassery. The session began with a prayer song by Ms. Alita Mariam Varghese and welcome speech by Ms. Jeslyn Theresa Jaimon. She provided valuable insights into using Microsoft Word, specifically in terms of academic writing. The session was insightful and informative. The speaker's ability to simplify concepts and provide real world examples made the subject matter both comprehensible and interesting.The session ended with a question and answer session addressed by the resource person followed by a vote of thanks by Ms. Mishal Susan Varghese.
Activity II
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology conducted an “ICT Skill Training Programme” on 13th November 2023 at 2.00 pm. The resource person of the day was Ms. Anu Joseph, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application, Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology. Total of 45 participants were part of the session. The participants of the workshop were 1st year UG students of the Psychology Department.Ms. Jasmin N. Shilu of 1st year UG batch 1 was the student coordinator and she handled the session well. The session started with a prayer song by Mr. Emin Sajan Mathew and Mr. Aivin C. John of 1st year UG batch 1. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Nandhakrishnan R. of 1st year UG batch 1. Ms. Anu Joseph gave an insight on how to create a neat powerpoint by explaining the basic concepts and tools used in powerpoint.
The session ended with a vote of thanks which was delivered by Ms. Athena Maria Vadakan of 1st year UG batch 1.
1.Language Skill Development Programme
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology conducted a Language Development Programme on 26 July 2023 at 2:30 PM. The awareness session was handled by Ms. Kesiya Mariam Benoy (MA HRM),KJCMT to the First year BSc Psychology students total of 90 participants were taking part in this programme. It was an effective and informational class. The outcome of the language skill programme was to inculcate the communication skills especially in terms of resume preparation and interview tips. The students got an awareness about the recently updated style of presenting their resume for a job application. Also learnt a few tips to be a part of an interview. The students were really impressed and they extended the feedback as it is highly practical and useful.

Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanacherry organized a Language Skill Development Program on 27th july 2023, at 12.15 p.m. Dr. Susen Alex, Assistant Professor of Hindi Govt. College, Tanur, Malappuram was the resource person. Total of 54 participants took part in the session. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Fr Joshy Cheeramkuzhy CMI .The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Krishnavinda S Pai and Evlin Mariam Paul of I Year B.Sc Psychology students. Ms. Emy Aju of 1st year B.Sc. Psychology, delivered the welcome speech. Mr. Cijo Joseph, Sectional head delivered felicitation. The session was engaging, expressive and lively. The speaker made the whole session interesting by her thought provoking ideas. The outcome of the programme was to improve the cognitive abilities of the students.to improve their reading skills, verbal fluency and objective measures of intelligence etc.
Skill Development Workshop on Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) Technique
Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology has always been keen on facilitating the students’ development of professional skills which will serve as professional assets for each student as they branch out into specific careers in their respective fields. The Skill Development Workshop on Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) Technique was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Psychology as part of the orientation for the Mini Project of the current fifth semester students of BSc Psychology, across two days, i.e. 19/09/23 and 26/09/23.
On Day 1 (19/09/23), the workshop started with a welcome speech and formal introduction of the resource person, Ms. Sini Elsa Joseph, Clinical Psychologist, by Ms. Jane Sebastian, Assistant Professor. Ms. Sini was then invited onto the podium to educate the students regarding Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR). She touched upon areas such as the occurrence of stress as well as the benefits and downsides of stress. She discussed stress management techniques with the students in detail. She later went on to give a brief idea about the history of JPMR as a technique for relaxation. She gave the students a clear picture regarding the long-term effects of the technique. She went on to specify the different muscle groups that are focused upon, during the course of one round of JPMR. The session was closed with a Q & A discussion which also prompted some valuable insights into the technique.
On Day 2 (26/09/23), the workshop started with Ms. Sini providing a quick recap about the areas that were discussed in the previous session so as to make a smooth continuation to the next few topics possible. She went on to talk about certain cautions and contraindications that need to be considered when administering JPMR in a clinical setting. She took time to explain each and every complexity regarding the technique with specific sections of the population. She further moved on to giving a few general instructions regarding the administration of the technique, which inevitably need to be kept in mind. The session came to a completion following an elaborate demonstration of JPMR by Ms. Sini on one of the students from the audience who was generous enough to volunteer for the same.
SKILL WORKSHOP
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology in association with IQAC of Kristu Jyoti College of Management and Technology, Changanasherry organized a Skill Workshop for MSc. Psychology Semester 2 & Semester 4students on 8th February 2024. The workshop was conducted in two sessions. The first session was on “Understanding Intellectual Disability and its Impact on Children and Parents”. The session was handled by Ms. Heera Joseph and it covered what is intellectual disability, the criteria to diagnose along with introducing various assessment methods and finally the treatment plans. The second session was handled by Ms. Melna Paul and the topic was “Unlocking the Potential: Understanding & Managing Specific Learning Disabilities”. The session detailed on specific learning disabilities, its causes, diagnoses and treatment strategies. It also mentioned about the potentiality of children with specific learning disabilities. The workshop was really helpful for the students and they positively responded about it. Even though the workshop covered basic details, it was incorporated well.
