Jonah Aswin Selva
Jonah Aswin Selva was the founder of TEDxKCMT. His TEDx journey began in 2018 as a seemingly impossible dream. With limited experience, being an introvert, and facing criticism of lacking skills, the idea of organizing TEDx appeared far-fetched. However, Jonah was fortunate to have supportive friends who believed in the vision and joined as the first core team members: Laya, Rachel, Tony, and Angel, guided by their mentor, Jithin Sha. Together, they defied the odds and laid the foundation for TEDxKCMT.
For Jonah, the true success of TEDxKCMT lies in witnessing the positive transformations within the team. Seeing introverts blossom into extroverts, shy individuals gain confidence, and skill development taking place has been a source of immense joy. Organizing 5+ TEDx events and hosting multiple TED Circles became vehicles for driving these personal growth journeys. The impact on volunteers and the community became the measure of success, overshadowing mere event numbers.
As a current mentor for TEDxKCMT, Jonah continues to listen to the challenges faced by the team and offers guidance to the best of their ability. It fills Jonah with delight to observe how an initiative that started years ago is now flourishing across generations, creating a lasting impact. The growth and evolution of TEDxKCMT remain nothing short of marvellous.
